Aluminium Bifolding Window Configurations.
Standard
Standard bifolding windows come with a 2-panel option that folds and stacks to either the left or right when opened. For larger openings, additional panels can be added, with 3, 4, and 6-panel configurations available.
Layback Option
A layback option enables the bifolding window panels to fold back completely—usually up to 180°—and sit flush against the exterior wall. This creates a wider opening, giving the impression that the doors "vanish" when fully opened.
Centre Opening
4- and 6-panel bifolding windows are available with a centre opening option, where the panels fold toward the middle. When fully opened, the two sets of panels stack on either side.
Are Bifolding Windows the Right Choice?
Bifolding windows are a sought-after window option for both contemporary and traditional projects, offering a range of advantages and versatile uses. With our team’s expertise, we’ll assist you in selecting the perfect aluminium window solution to suit the specific requirements of your project.
Space Maximising: Bifolding windows fold and stack neatly to one side, optimising available space. While they do require some external room for stacking when open, layback options can eliminate this need by allowing the panels to rest flat against the exterior wall.
View Maximising: Bifolding widows fully open to offer expansive, unobstructed views. When closed, the narrow window frame stiles and top and bottom panel rails minimise visual clutter. Layback configurations can further reduce visual obstruction.
Enhanced Ventilation: Bifolding windows open completely, allowing unobstructed airflow whilst inviting fresh air into the home.

In response to recent H1 NZBC updates mandating high-performance insulated glass units with Low-E coatings in thermally improved frames, each of our windows and doors feature ThermalHEART® thermal break aluminium combined with The AGP System® Low-E glass with argon gas to nearly double the thermal efficiency of standard aluminum joinery, reducing heat loss during winter and limiting heat gain in summer.
The Centrafix™ installation method can be added to Metro Series windows joinery to enhance thermal performance by up to 20%.
