Colour & Finishes.

Selecting the right surface finish for your aluminium door and window frame is crucial to ensuring both longevity and warranty coverage. The performance of your finish can be influenced by factors such as location and site conditions. Choosing the right aluminium joinery colour further influences the aesthetic appeal of your project and the durability of your aluminium doors and windows over time.

With over 20 years of industry experience, our knowledgeable team at Windowmakers is here to help you navigate these considerations. We’ll work closely with you to understand every aspect of your project, ensuring that the chosen aluminium joinery colour and finish not only enhances your design but also meets the functional demands of your environment.

Powdercoating.

Powdercoating is a highly durable, baked-on finish that is widely used for aluminium joinery due to its tough, long-lasting qualities and extensive aluminium joinery colour options, making it easy to find the perfect match for your design aesthetics.

Light colours typically maintain their appearance better over time compared to darker or brighter shades. It's important to note that, over the long term, powdercoatings may experience gradual degradation, with a loss of gloss more noticeable on external, north-facing surfaces. Darker and brighter coatings are especially susceptible, as they tend to absorb more heat and UV radiation, which can accelerate wear.

We offer two powdercoat finishes.

Anodising.

Anodising is a durable, colourfast alternative to powdercoating, where the aluminium frame undergoes an electrochemical process to form a protective oxide layer, which can then be dyed in a variety of colours, keeping the natural metallic appearance of the aluminium. We offer a matte or 'frost' finish as standard, with traditional anodising also available. The anodising process makes the aluminium highly resistant to corrosion, wear, and UV damage.

When evaluating the colour consistency and integrity of an anodised finish, the industry standard is to inspect from two metres. Some aluminium joinery colour variation is normal and inherent to the anodising process. Visible lines on the surface of anodised windows and doors are also common.

Please note that anodising is not available for Residential ThermalHEART®.

Entrance Doors.

Our entrance doors come with a standard powdercoat finish featuring Protexture™ for enhanced durability. Please note that dark colours may not be ideal for doors exposed to direct sunlight, as they can absorb heat, making the surface hot to the touch and potentially leading to colour fading over time.

We also offer dual colour options across most of our door range, except for the Slimline Plasma door. This allows you to select different colours for the interior and exterior, giving you the flexibility to complement both sides of your door with your unique colour schemes.
