Capturing The Sun, Whitford

Completed in 2018 — an impressive family renovation project, designed by the homeowner's daughter at RTA Studio with the purpose of her upcoming wedding and built by the team at Precision Construction. 

The house is located on a spectacular coastal site in Whitford, with impressive views of the Hauraki Gulf— the architect emphasised that the original home suffered from numerous poorly-planned additions which lead to a home that was disconnected from its context. Accordingly, the home's grand views remained at the forefront of the renovation process to be maximised on her wedding day.

A large component of the renovation project involved opening-up facades and replacing them with impressive window and door glazing that frames the view, provides a more cohesive design, and brings the outdoors in. The sliding doors that wrap around the living room open to accentuate indoor-outdoor living and provide convenient access to the outside — perfect for people circulation on the wedding day.
